Course Description
This course is a continuation of Mathematics for Elementary Teaching I. Topics covered include geometry, probability, statistics, and measurement. Mathematical reasoning and problem solving are emphasized. This is the second course in a two-semester sequence recommended to meet the requirements for teacher certification in Illinois. It is not a methods course in teaching mathematics. This course provides general education credit for elementary education majors.

A scientific calculator is required for this course. The preferred calculator is the TI-83/84 Graphing Calculator or the TI-73 Graphing Calculator.
A protractor, compass, and straight-edge are also required for this course.
Students who have not successfully completed Math 200 (or an equivalent course) cannot receive credit for Math 206. Students cannot simultaneously enroll in both Math 200 and Math 206. While Math 206 provides the general education math credit at all IAI participating colleges and universities, it may not fulfill the math requirements of a particular school of education.
