Math 171 - Calculus with Analytic Geometry I - 5 Credit Hours - 5 Lecture Hours

Course Description
This is the first course in the three-semester sequence of courses covering calculus for scientists and engineers. Topics covered include lines, limits, derivatives, applications of derivatives, antiderivatives and definite integrals, and applications of integrals.

Prerequisite
Math 165, Precalculus, with a C or better

Calculus, 8th Edition; Larson, Hostetler, and Edwards (2006); ISBN 978-0-618-50298-1

The course covers chapters 1-4 and sections 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, & 7.6. At the instructor's discretion, chapter P may be covered as review. Additional sections in chapter 7 may be covered if time permits.

Additional Comments
A TI-83/84 Graphing Calculator is required for this course.

One evening and one afternoon section of Math 171 are offered at PSC each fall and spring semester.  One evening section is offered each summer semester.
