Math 153 - Probability and Statistics - 4 Credit Hours - 4 Lecture Hours

Course Description
This is an introductory course in probability and statistics.  Topics covered include frequency distributions, percentiles, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, standard deviation, correlation, elementary probability, regression lines, statistical inference, the binomial distribution, the normal distribution, the student-t distribution, and the chi-square distribution.  Computer software, such as MINITAB, is used.  Comprehensive projects are assigned.  Students who complete this course cannot also receive credit for Bus 240 or Math 115.

Prerequisite
Math 151 (College Algebra) with at least a "C" or a qualifying score on the math placement test

Additional Comments
A TI-83/84 Graphing Calculator is required for this course.  The statistical features of the calculator will be used extensively.

Math 153 is crosslisted as Bus 240.
