Math 151 - College Algebra - 4 Credit Hours - 4 Lecture Hours
Course Description
This course extends on the concepts previously studied in Intermediate Algebra. Course material is approached both algebraically and graphically. The graphing calculator is used extensively. Topics covered include linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions and their applications. Matrices, matrix operations, and matrix equations are also introduced.Prerequisite
Math 095 and Math 096, both with at least a C

College Algebra, 8th edition, by Michael Sullivan. ISBN: 978-0-132-40286-6The course covers chapters 3-6 and sections 8.1 & 8.2. Further sections (especially chapter 2 and sections 8.3 & 8.4) are covered as time permits.

All Math 151 students are given the same comprehensive departmental final exam. The exam consists of approximately 6 free-response problems and 34 multiple-choice problems. All exam problems are based directly on the course objectives. The individual classroom instructor is responsible for all other tests, quizzes, and assignments.All regular daytime sections of Math 151 take their finals at the same time. The final exam is normally scheduled for the Monday or Tuesday of finals week from 1pm to 2:50pm. Evening, Friday, and weekend sections follow the regular final exam schedule.
Math 151 does not fulfill the general education math requirement. Students should not take College Algebra unless it is a prerequisite for a later course.
The TI-83/84 Graphing Calculator is required for this course.
